Identity for the festival of Japanese street food

Identity for the festival of Japanese street food

I have made branding, design, and illustration for this project.

The key feature of the festival is that it introduces consumers to a previously unfamiliar product — Japanese street food, and invites them to discover new tastes.

The design solution is based on vibrant illustrations that represent dishes unfamiliar to the consumer in the form of drawings and descriptions. The colors and style of the graphics refer to Japanese animation and Japanese graphic design.

The style hypothesis is based on the analogy with flashcards. Flashcards are used for the study of hieroglyphs. They place a hieroglyph and its meaning as well as an image of an object on a card to ease a remembering. The form of the logo referring the shape of a frying pan for making Takoyaki balls.
